Ho Chi Minh City, May 7, 2025 – Ben Tre Import and Export Joint Stock Corporation (Betrimex) today officially inaugurated its new office building at 63 Cao Thang Street, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City. The event marks a significant milestone in the company's development journey and actualizes its strategic vision of becoming a center for innovation, research, and development of creative coconut-based solutions.
More than just a modern workspace for the Betrimex team, the building also serves as a nexus for the internal strength of the agricultural ecosystem led by Ms. Dang Huynh Uc My, Chairlady of the Board of Directors of Betrimex. This ecosystem notably includes TTC AgriS (HoSE: SBT), a leading high-tech agriculture enterprise in Vietnam. This is considered a strategic move to realize the aspiration of transforming Vietnam into a global hub for agricultural innovation.
A Green Footprint, Affirming Commitment to Sustainable Development
Construction of the building began in September 2023 and it officially became operational in May 2025. This structure stands as a testament to Betrimex's strong commitment to sustainable development, evident in its prominent "green" features throughout. From the initial design phase, the project was oriented towards the stringent standards of green buildings. In February 2025, Betrimex signed a green credit facility with the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV). This event is seen as a concrete step in realizing Betrimex's commitments and could potentially set a precedent for green financing in the commercial real estate sector.
Upon becoming operational, the building achieved LEED BD+C (Building Design and Construction) Gold certification, one of the most prestigious and rigorous green building standards globally. To earn this certification, the project implemented a series of advanced green solutions, including: a sensor-based LED lighting system to save energy, an environmentally friendly VRF air conditioning system, water-saving sanitary equipment, the use of up to 25% recycled materials in construction, the installation of a 36.3 kWp solar panel system, and the equipping of electric vehicle charging stations, along with a smart design that optimizes natural light and ventilation. Beyond focusing on green technical elements, the building is also managed by Savills, a reputable international firm, ensuring the highest professional standards.
What makes the building particularly impressive is not only its sustainability-focused green criteria but also its iconic façade design and creative office spaces. The building's frontage stands out with a system of green vertical louvers, reminiscent of the gentle image of coconut fronds. Subtle changes in the inclination and spacing between the louver layers create a unique lighting effect while lending a natural and soft beauty to the structure. This design not only holds high aesthetic value but also plays a crucial role in controlling solar heat gain, reducing the building's internal temperature, and enhancing natural ventilation. Buffer zones and green areas are harmoniously arranged and interspersed, creating a work environment close to nature, promoting comfort, and improving work efficiency.
The building plays a vital role in Betrimex's "Zero Waste Strategy," reflecting the company's strategic commitment to minimizing negative environmental impacts through a comprehensive sustainable development approach. According to Betrimex's recently published Sustainability Report, 2024 marked a significant milestone as the company conducted its first greenhouse gas emissions inventory, a key step in its journey towards achieving Zero Waste by 2040 and complying with international ESG standards. Accordingly, Betrimex has set specific targets: to achieve carbon neutrality by 2035 and be certified for carbon neutrality under ISO 14068-1-2023, and to achieve Level 2 Zero Waste by 2040. This new office building will also be included in the scope of annual energy measurement.
Integrated Research and Development Center: Elevating Position in the Value Chain
A special highlight of the building is its modern Research and Development (R&D) space, equipped with advanced facilities. This center is envisioned as a platform for developing cutting-edge technological solutions in coconut production and processing. The dual strategic goals of the R&D center are to increase product value and optimize production process efficiency, while simultaneously creating a sustainable coconut value chain, promoting green agricultural practices, and meeting strict standards for food safety, nutritional content, and traceability.
The new office building's highlight is its professional R&D center, a launchpad for building Betrimex's sustainable coconut value chain.
Locating the R&D center at the new headquarters in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City provides Betrimex with a significant advantage in accessing knowledge networks, potential markets, and the innovation community from leading domestic and regional universities and research centers.
Ms. Dang Huynh Uc My, Chairlady of the Board of Directors of Betrimex, shared: "The inauguration of this modern green office building, highlighted by the advanced R&D center, marks a significant step forward in realizing Betrimex's shared vision. This event not only creates a world-class workspace but also lays a solid foundation for promoting innovation, research, and the development of groundbreaking coconut products with international potential."
"Parallel to these internal advancements, our strategy of expanding international cooperation, exemplified by our presence in the 'coconut capital' of Indonesia, demonstrates a broad vision of synergizing strengths and creating momentum towards an ambitious production target: 300 million liters/kg. With these strategic efforts, Betrimex not only affirms its pioneering position but also carries the mission of elevating the Vietnamese coconut industry's standing on the global agricultural map, contributing to the nation's prosperity and sustainable development."
In the context of Vietnam's growing need for large-scale R&D centers in the agricultural sector, Betrimex's integration of a modern R&D center into its new office headquarters holds significant strategic importance. This move is expected to promote the role of Vietnamese knowledge in creating added value and sustainability for agricultural products in the international market.
Betrimex is progressively realizing its vision of becoming an innovation hub and a comprehensive solutions provider. The goal is to establish a sustainable link between farmers, scientists, and the global market, aiming to build a smart agricultural ecosystem based on the "Zero Waste" model.
