BETRIMEX: REPOSITIONING AN AGRICULTURAL ENTERPRISE WITH AGRITECH AND FINTECH

11/2025

Today, November 7, at the Vietnam Innovation Summit 2025, Ms. Tran Thi Lan Anh, Group CEO of Betrimex Vietnam, shared the company's strategy for expanding from its roots in Ben Tre to a global presence in 80 countries. She was speaking during a panel discussion titled, "Scaling SMEs: From Local Champions to Regional Players."

For nearly half a century, Betrimex’s challenge has been how to break free from the traditional agricultural supply chain. According to Ms. Lan Anh, the key lies in repositioning Betrimex as a high-tech agricultural enterprise, rather than just a manufacturer.

This strategy is being executed through digital transformation. Betrimex has prioritized building a supply chain with transparent traceability. Notably, the company is researching and progressively implementing a "Supply Chain Finance" (SCF) model. This is a significant move that allows farmers to access capital based on productivity data and farming history, rather than traditional collateral. This model helps solve the capital bottleneck for farmers while integrating them more tightly into the value chain.

Speaking on competitive advantages, Ms. Lan Anh expressed confidence in the quality of Vietnamese coconut water but stressed that optimizing the cost of goods is the key factor in maintaining its market position. "Achieving an affordable cost of goods has required 10 years of continuous improvement. Even on the first day of Tet (Lunar New Year), our factory is still running," she shared.

The story of Betrimex, with over $200 million in revenue, is a testament to how the application of technology and modern governance models can elevate the status of Vietnamese agricultural products in the global market.
