BETRIMEX AND TRA VINH UNIVERSITY SIGN MOU PARTNERSHIP: INCREASING 'KNOWLEDGE CONTENT', BUILDING THE 'NEXT GENERATION' FOR A SUSTAINABLE COCONUT INDUSTRY

11/2025

Vietnam's coconut industry is in a strategic transition: from "agricultural production" to an "agricultural economy"—a highly efficient, multi-sector integrated economy. The key to this transition's success is increasing the content of knowledge and science throughout the entire coconut value chain.

Betrimex clearly defines that the "breakthrough" to increase this knowledge content must begin with creating a "Next Generation"—a generation equipped with specialized knowledge of the coconut tree, practice-linked knowledge, and an agricultural economic mindset.

To realize this vision, on November 6, 2025, within the "Forum on Coconut Health Management to Meet Production and Consumer Demands," Betrimex and Tra Vinh University (TVU) officially signed a comprehensive Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

The event marks a strategic milestone, realizing the vital "Enterprise - Scientists” linkage, where Betrimex brings real-world "problem statements" from the coconut industry to the research institution, and TVU provides the scientific knowledge foundation for the industry.

The three pillars of cooperation are built to create a Knowledge-based virtuous cycle for the coconut industry:
  • Human Resource Training: This is the process of "activating" knowledge for the "Next Generation." Internships, seminars, and soft skills training on the coconut value chain will be implemented, bringing students from the lecture hall directly into Betrimex's manufacturing facilities.
  • R&D and Technology Transfer (Create Knowledge): This is the process of "creating" new knowledge. The two parties will coordinate R&D on coconut seedlings, embryo culture technology, deep processing, and developing circular economy models to maximize the use of coconut by-products.
  • Raw Material Zone Development: This is the process of "applying" knowledge in the farm. The two parties will collaborate with "Farmers" to build sustainable organic coconut material zones, transferring agronomic knowledge and advanced cultivation techniques directly to farmers.

This collaboration affirms Betrimex's long-term vision: not just mastering the value chain, but leading the transition to an "agricultural economy" for Vietnam's coconut industry through a Knowledge foundation and a commitment to nurturing national agricultural talent.
