In 2020, with support from Betrimex, Hung Le Cooperative became the first unit in Vietnam’s coconut industry to achieve Fairtrade certification. The journey of Hung Le Fairtrade Agricultural Cooperative alongside Betrimex stands as clear proof that when Businesses – Farmers – and Communities share the same vision, sustainable values can truly be amplified.
As for today, Hung Le Cooperative has 869 members, managing a total of 655 hectares – 450 of which meet Fairtrade standards – and has accumulated 5.3 billion VND in the Fairtrade Welfare Fund. This fund has been invested in rural roads, pandemic prevention, organic fertilizer, and direct support for farmers in hardship, helping to increase incomes and improve livelihoods.
Building on this success, in 2025, Betrimex is expanding the Fairtrade model to other cooperatives, including Thanh Phu Dong, Cam Son, and Long My. This aims to develop a Vietnamese coconut production that meets Fairtrade standards, laying the foundation to enhance the value and reputation of Vietnamese coconuts on the global market.
